Community Grant Requirements
Established presence or demonstrated connection to Hamilton
Itemized project budget; quotes or estimates may be required
Direct and demonstrable benefit to Hamilton residents, neighborhoods, or public spaces
Resident-informed project with resident involvement considered during scoring
Organizational contribution through time, volunteers, partnerships, in-kind support, matching funds, or other resources
One application per organization per grant cycle
Final report, photos, and receipts
Physical projects: Public accessibility, property-owner approval, feasibility research, required approvals, and a long-term maintenance plan are required.
General Grant Guidelines
These guidelines apply to both programs unless a program states otherwise.
Projects must provide a community benefit.
Recipients are responsible for permits, insurance, and approvals.
Lasting improvements require a maintenance plan.
Expenses must be approved and included in the project budget.
Vendor paperwork and quotes are due at least 14 business days in advance.
Funding is competitive and not guaranteed.
Resident-led ideas
Hamilton residents and neighborhood citizen-led organizations
$500-$2,500 per project or event per grant cycle
Multiple applications permitted; maximum $2,500 per project or event per cycle
Neighbor-led events, programs, beautification, safety, and community improvements
Organization-, school-, or community partner-led projects
Community organizations, neighborhood citizen-led organizations, Hamilton City Schools, and eligible nonprofits without payroll
$500-$2,500 for projects and programs; up to $5,000 for qualifying placemaking or public-space improvements
One application per organization per grant cycle
New initiatives, partnerships, expanded programming, and larger publicly accessible improvements
